Stone has already won the Best Actress in Toronto and Telluride for her amazing performance as a singer-dancer-actress in the ‘La La Land’. Not far behind is actress from the December 9, 2016 release ‘Jackie’ – Natalie Portman. Natalie plays the role of Jake Kennedy, the late first lady of Unites States of America. Ruth Negga is another front runner for her role in ‘Loving’ as Mildred Loving. Lining up is Isabelle Huppert for her acting in ‘Elle’, the French actress has done an incredible job as a rape victim who refuses to be defined as the word abuse.
Best Actor – Casey Affleck
There is a tough competition between Casey Affleck for his outstanding performance as a Boston janitor deliberated by depression, anger and sorrow in Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea’ and Denzel Washington for his role in ‘Fences’ as an ex-baseball slugger who played for Pittsburgh and was then turned to a garbage man. Next in line is Joel Edgerton for playing Richard Loving in Jeff Nichols’ movie ‘Loving’. Edgerton has indeed given a rich performance, he has always been appreciated for his supporting roles in ‘The Great Gatsby’ and ‘Black Mass’. Fingers crossed on whether or not Joel Edgerton will take the golden Oscar home. Two more frontrunner’s in the 2017 best actor prediction list are Ryan Gosling for his role in ‘La La Land’ and Tom Hanks for his acting in ‘Sully’. The movie has been written and directed by Jeff Nichols and has been released by Focus Features in the United States on November 4, 2016. Also Denzel Washington’s ‘Fences’ written by August Wilson and directed by Denzel himself, is a heart-warming story of a baseball player who is now a trash collector struggling to look after his family, is gathering praises and is being seen as the frontrunner for the best picture.
