Travel blogging is one of the best careers for people who don’t want to get bogged down by the shackles of the corporate world. For the roamers, vagabonds, free thinkers, travel blogging is the way of living life. You may not believe me, but many of the travel bloggers are able to travel for free and some of them are even sponsored by big brands.
An acquaintance of mine, Mathew Pete, is an adventurous travel blogger and all his treks are sponsored by Skechers.
Do you want to become as successful as Mathew; here are some of the things that you should know.
Blogging is hard work

Blogging is not as easy as some people say it is. You have to dedicate a lot of effort, time and money into your blog before it can become strong enough to support you.
Here are some of the skills that you will need to become a good travel blogger:-
- Good writing skills
- Basic computer skills
- Basic video editing skills
- Good photography skills
- Ability to come up with witty tweets
- Ability to network with people in your domain
- Ability to create proposals for sponsorship
If you think that bloggers only type in front of a computer screen, then you are clearly mistaken.
You have to accept criticism and hate speech
The first time you will publish some content online, chances are, people are not going to like it. The internet is full of jealous, insecure people. People whose life don’t account to anything, that is why they do all these negative things like hate speech to bring other people down.

My advice is to accept that you will get negative comments and just move on with your work. Don’t quit! Remember, you are not blogging for the neigh-sayers, you are blogging for the yeah-sayers!
Your travelling will become reader-centric
When you start travel blogging, there is a pleasant pressure to care for your audience, which will change you. You will have to visit the spots that your readers might want you to visit. You might have to eat something that your readers request you try. In short, you won’t be travelling just for yourself, you will travelling for a community.
Creating products will help you grow
No blog can survive without a steady income. If you want to continue travel blog, you have to sell something to people. The best thing to sell is an informative product in the form of an eBook.
See, when people pay for travelling, they want to have the best possible experience. You may have apprehensions about your writing, your eBook, but trust me on this, your experiences matter and people will gladly pay for your experiences. Why? Because it will make their travelling much more pleasurable!
Here are some of the eBook titles to get you started:-
